ORANGE BEACH, AL — Hometown Star Shelby Brown has been chosen as the 2016 Grand Marshal for the City of Orange Beach Fat Tuesday Parade.
Shelby had an impressive run this past season on the hit TV show “The Voice”, finishing in the semifinals. However, she is No. 1 in her hometowns of Elberta, where she lives now, and Orange Beach, where she is an alumnus of Orange Beach Elementary School and also where proud parents Steve and Osa Brown work.
“Shelby is talented, hardworking, gracious, dedicated and fun loving,” Event Operations Director Angela Bateman said. “We could not be more proud of her and she could not be a more fitting Grand Marshal for the 2016 City of Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade.
“Locals and visitors know that all ages can come and be safe, comfortable, have fun and enjoy good times at the Orange Beach Mardi Gras Parade. Shelby Brown is perfect to lead us in that revelry.”
Shelby’s musical influences draw mostly from country artists but she dips her toes into the rock end of the pool as well. You can hear Miss Brown blend Miranda Lambert, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks and Grace Potter among many other strong female artists but she maintains her own true self.
The Mardi Gras Parade will be on Tuesday, Feb. 9, beginning at 2 p.m. on Perdido Beach Boulevard in OrangeBeach. It starts at Wintzell’s Oyster House and ends at the intersection of Perdido Beach Boulevard and Highway 161.
