Shelby Thomas Brooks, 85, of Magnolia Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011.
He was a Foley High graduate; graduated from Auburn University School of Pharmacy; and served his country bravely in Europe during Worlkd War II in the U.S. Army.
He was past owner of Stacey Drug Store in Foley and served as a longtime deacon and treasurer of Magnolia Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Underwood Brooks.
Survivors include a son, Stan Brooks of Summerdale; daughter, Gwen (David) Brooks Wood of Fairhope; four grandchildren, Christopher Brooks of Cherry Point, N.C., Kimberly B. Wood of Tuscaloosa, David C. Wood II of Atlanta and John C. Wood of Tuscaloosa.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at Magnolia Springs Baptist Church with funeral services at 1 p.m. from the church sanctuary. Interment with military honors will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Magnolia Springs Baptist Church.
