Robert Marvin Sherman, 78, a native of Bon Secour and resident of Livingston, La., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs, La.

He retired from the Livingston Parish News as the Production Manager with 31 years of service.

He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church and has served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at churches in Louisiana and Alabama. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting and camping and his three greatest loves' in life were God, family and work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Bertha Nell Vinnie Allen Sherman, brothers, Farish, Thomas and Garvin Sherman, sisters, Lucille Sherman and Mary Glenn Parker.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, M. Jane Hadley Sherman of Livingston, La.; daughter, Brenda Jane (Francis) Ritchie of Denham Springs, La.; two sons, Marvin Stevie (Sue) Sherman of Pine Grove, La., and Sanford “Sandy” (Pat) Sherman of LaPlace, La.; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at Vernant Park Baptist Church in Magnolia Springs with the Rev. Terry Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Vernant Park Baptist Cemetery.
