Sherman Maxwell Broughton, 94, a native and longtime resident of Tuscaloosa, and a resident of Fairhope, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Medical Corp.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Kathryn Broughton of Fairhope; son, Jerry (Carol) Broughton of Fairhope; two daughters, Liz (Homer) Carpenter of Eutaw and Sarah (Harvey) Jones of Auburn; six grandchildren, Trae and Shona Carpenter, Heather Sims and Christopher Jones, Jay Sherman Broughton and Whitfield Broughton; three great-grandchildren, Nikki Carpenter, Parker and Sarah Grace Sims; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.
