Sherman Riley Brooks, 58, a native and lifelong resident of Bay Minette, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 in Bay Minette.
He attended Faith Bible Building Church. He was a loving father and grandfather who was always there for his family and was appreciated by them.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Brenda Brooks of Ventress, La.; two sons, Riley Jerome (Donna) Brooks of Morganza, La., and Kayiah Brooks of Bay Minette; three daughters, Stacy (Bradley) Turk of Tuscaloosa, Tennille (Frederick) German of Bay Minette, and Brittany (Jason) Brooks of Ventress, La.; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Harrell (Ann) Brooks of Bay Minette, William L. (Linda) Brooks of Luverne and George Shelton Brooks of Foley; and five sisters, Lillian Aline (Travis) Hadley of Perdido, Laura Jean (Buddy) Johnson of Waynesboro, Miss., Flora Lee (Curtis) Hadley of Bay Minette, Mary Kathrine Hadley of Silverhill and Tina Elaine (Neal) Stringfellow of Pearl, Miss.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Brooks Cemetery.
