Shirley Wheeler McDonald, 76, a native a San Antonio, Texas, a longtime resident of Bastrop, La., and a resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.
She graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in Shreveport, La., in 1952 were she receive the honor as salutatorian. She then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in business from Louisiana Tech University.
She lived in Bastrop, La., from 1964 until 1997, were she was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She also was a Life Master at Bridge and taught it at the Nix Center in Fairhope.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Williams F. McDonald.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa McDonald Barker of Fairhope; son, Mark William (Joni) McDonald of Fairhope; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dusty) Price of Pensacola, Fla., Paul Thomas, of Philadelphia, Henry, Charles, Grace and Cooper McDonald, all of Fairhope; great-grandson, Nathaniel Price; sister, Joan Wheeler (Don) Gregg of Garland, Texas; brother, Robert “Bob” (Pam) Wheeler of Shreveport, La.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, with funeral services at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
