ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — A Silverhill man, Homer Hollis, 59, apparently took his own life at the CVS store on Highway 59 around 5:30 p.m. in Robertsdale Saturday, Nov. 28 after firing shots at his wife, Robertsdale police said.

According to Sgt. Rex Bishop, a spokesperson for the department, Homer Hollis, 59, fired four shots at his wife in the store parking lot. Bishop said in a telephone interview that Robertsdale police are trying to protect some of her privacy by not releasing her name.

According to Bishop, the woman entered the store, and Hollis caught up to her there.

“He decided to take his own life,” said Bishop, adding that the man fired a shot to his head.

Bishop added that “numerous” officers responded to the scene, and officers at first “Didn't know where the gunman was.” No one else was hurt in the incident.
