Kimberly Marie Shumack of Silverhill and David Lawson Chapman of Foley were united in marriage Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Fairhope United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Robert Haynes officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Roberta Vorel of Silverhill. She is the granddaughter of the late Frank and Bernice Vorel of Silverhill.
She is a 2001 graduate of Robertsdale High School and received a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication and journalism from Auburn University in 2005 and a master of tehnical and professional communication from Auburn University in 2007.
She is the public relations manager at the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
The bridegroom is the son of Gayle Chapman of Albany, Ga., and the late Doug Chapman Jr. He is the grandson of the late Spencer and Cornelia Walden of Albany, and the late Doug and Margaret Chapman of Athens, Ga.
The bridegroom is a 1996 graduate of Deerfield Windsor School in Albany and received a bachelor of science degree in logistics and transportation from the Auburn University College of Business in 2000. He is an accounting assistant and client services manager at Dealer’s Choice Inc. in Fairhope.
Given in marriage by her mother, the bride wore a mermaid style gown of sequined and pearled lace over satin. The fitted trumpet silhouette was highlighted by a halter neckline and a chapel train. The bride carried a nosegay of pink roses, and the wedding colors were candy pink and cream.
Jennifer Browning of Birmingham served as maid of honor.
Clay Chapman, brother of the bridegroom, of Albany, served as best man.
Campbell Chapman, niece of the bridegroom, served as flower girl. Anna Chapman, niece of the bridegroom, of Albany, served as honorary flower girl.
Ushers were the Sims Floyd, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; the groom’s cousin Travis Walden, cousin of the bridegroom; Dr. Eric Morgan.
Program attendants were Walden and Banks Floyd, nieces of the bridegroom, both of Columbia, S.C. Reader was Dr. Karen Walters-Drinkard of Thomasville.
Music was provided by Lizanne Harbuck while Tamra Cowen served as the wedding director.
A reception followed at the church’s fellowship hall in the Christian Life Center. A seafood dinner was catered by Cosmo’s Restaurant and Bar while cakes were provided The Little Cake Shop. Guests were entertained by professional musician Darryl Phillips.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s mother at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear.
After a honeymoon at The Grand Hotel, the couple will reside in Silverhill.
