Shuttle buses to run during SEC BeachFest

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Football fans attending the 2012 SEC BeachFest Aug. 23-26 in Gulf Shores now have the option of convenient parking with park and ride sponsored by Baldwin Rural Area Transportation System.

The cost is $2 per one-way ride the fest site at Alabama 59 and Alabama 182 in Gulf Shores.

Visitors on the western end of the island can catch the shuttle at Pier 33 at 900 W. Beach Blvd. and Waves Grocery at 1154 W. Beach Blvd.

North locations in Gulf Shores will include Gulf Shores United Methodist church north parking lot at 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway and Bruno’s Shopping Center Parking lot at 1545 Gulf Shores Parkway.

On the eastern end of the island festival goers can catch the shuttle at the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot at 25241 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach and at Lake Shelby at the Gulf State Park at Highway 135 and Highway 182, Gulf Shores.

This shuttle system will run Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. No shuttle service is set for the event’s final day on Sunday.

A schedule of events has been released for the BeachFest.

Coaches Gene Chizik of Auburn, Les Miles of LSU and Nick Saban of Alabama will make appearances the main stage and talk answer questions from ESPN on-air staffers. All three will make 30-minutes appearances on Saturday.

Chizik will be on the main stage from 11:20-11:50 a.m., Miles from 3:20-3:50 p.m. and Saban from 5:50-6:20 p.m.

SEC BeachFest events also include appearances from legendary coaches, two beach concerts, an SEC Alumni Golf Scramble, filming of an ESPNU show, alumni and friend parties, a fan zone fueled by BP and a 5k run and waffle breakfast.

Former coaches Gene Stallings of Alabama, Pat Dye of Auburn, Fillip Fulmer of Tennessee, Vince Dooley of Georgia, R.C. Slocum of Texas A&M, Billy Brewer of Ole Miss and Frank Broyles of Arkansas will make appearances throughout the weekend.

The former coaches will conduct drills and participate in question-and-answer sessions with fans in the Fan Zone.
