SILVERHILL, Ala. — The Alabama Power Foundation has awarded a 2010 Community Forestry Project grant of $500 to the Town of Silverhill. Funds will be used to purchase new trees that will be planted by the Town Utility Department along the length of the Town’s new sidewalk that was funded by a Transportation Enhancement Grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

The Town’s Master Gardner Carolyn Koch will assist with the implementation of the project and will comply with the Town’s Tree Ordinance adopted in 1982. The Town will be responsible for long-term maintenance and care of the new trees.

Arbor Day for the Town of Silverhill will be Feb. 24 and 25, 2011.
