Seth Basil Simpson Jr., 81, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2007 at a local hospital.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Louisiana State University as a civil engineer. He was an avid LSU fan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Ritchie Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Blundell Simpson; two children, Sue Owens of Pineville, La., and Seth Basil Simpson III of New Orleans; two step-children, Charles B. McChesney II and Kathy Peres, both of New Orleans; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation and a memorial service was held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Entombment will be Wednesday, Dec. 26 at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Stroke Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067 or Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 616 Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
