ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Riding with pride on the Pink Fire Truck in the Feb.,20 Wharf Mardi Gras Parade are the past queens and emblems of Sirens of the Sea: Karla Woodring; Linda Pacatte; Sally O’Donnell; Oliveth Archer; Helen Shivers; Susan Sizemore; Annette Mitchell; Joan Contorno; Allyson Walters; and Ren White.
In appreciation for the honor of riding the truck and recognition for a very worthy cause, the Sirens made a donation to the Guardians of the Ribbon-Lower Alabama Chapter “Pink Heals tour.”
Orange Beach Firefighters fight fires, but they also fight breast cancer with their own Pink Fire Truck. They bought the fire truck in 2010 and painted it pink to join the national movement.
There are only 25 pink trucks in the United States and Orange Beach has the only pink truck in Alabama. Pink Heal tours raise awareness for all women in their fight against all cancers.
Tours are funded by the sale of Guardian logo shirts and donations and these funds provide gas and maintenance for the truck as well as food and lodging for firefighters on tour.
