FAIRHOPE, Ala. - The second to last monthly walk-to-school event will have a “spring theme” and occur on April 1, according to a Smart Coast news release.

“Grab a flower or something green and Smart Coast will provide the noisemakers as you join in the growing celebration of walkable communities with Fairhope’s Smart Walks,” Smart Coast director Charlene Lee stated in the news release.

The ongoing Smart Walks are sponsored by Smart Coast in partnership with the Baldwin County School System and the Fairhope City Planning Department, the release stated.

Both Fairhope Kindergarten Center and Fairhope Elementary School will participate in the event, which will take place rain or shine, Lee stated.

Fairhope K Center students, parents, teachers and friends will meet at 7:15 a.m. Friday, April 1, at the Fairhope Civic Center and walk together to the K Center. Fairhope Elementary students will meet at 7:15 am at the Fairhope Public Library to walk to the elementary school.

Smart Coast is a Fairhope-based nonprofit group that supports walkable communities and other environmentally sustainable projects and policies in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
