Amy Elizabeth Smith and William Brandon Pearson were united in marriage on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the historic Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Hill. Dr. David Thomas officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lewis Smith of Pleasant Hill. She is the granddaughter of Robert Franklin Culpepper of Pleasant Hill and the late Dorothy Tate Culpepper, and Ella Lewis Smith of Dothan and the late Edwin Reid Smith.

The bridegroom is the son of William Vernon Pearson of Birmingham and Deborah Dailey Hoffman of Silverhill. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Pearson of Camden and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dailey of McWilliams.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an elegant cap sleeve A-line dress with beaded Chantilly lace with a scalloped semi-chapel train made by Casablanca. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white flowers including Hydrangeas, Craspedia, and Freesia.

Julie Ryan Smith, sister-in-law of the bride of Roswell, Ga., served as matron of honor. Also attending were Melissa Autrey Letson of Charleston, S.C., Clarissa McKinney Rambo of Elberta and Lauren Riley Sadler, cousin of the bride, of Montgomery.

They wore gowns of lemon yellow silk dupioni. They carried bouquets of white hydrangeas.

William Vernon Pearson, father of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Alex Walston Lowell of Gulf Shores, Steven Franklin Smith, brother of the bride, of Roswell, Ga., and Kenneth Nathan Stokes, brother of the bridegroom of Silver City, N.M.

Flower girl was Layla Darby Cook. She wore a French hand-sewn heirloom dress by the mother of the bride made of white batiste with insertions of ecru lace and ribbon and gathered cap sleeves she carried a pomander of fresh flowers. Ring bearer was Gabriel Ryan Smith, nephew of the bride.

Wedding music was provided by pianist Josh Till and soloists Theresa Wood and Victoria Wood.

The historic church built in 1851 by the bride’s ancestors was decorated with a handmade cross made of wisteria and kudzu vine and a beautiful arrangement of yellow and white flowers.

Guests were greeted with a wishing tree in place of a guest book and a wreath of leaves and lemons. The initials of the couple were on each of the doors made of moss.

Emily McKinley and Kori McKinley, nieces of the bridegroom, handed out program fans and Angie Lowell attended the wishing tree.

A reception at Cedar Creek Lodge in Pleasant Hill followed the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to Punta Canta, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Gulf Shores.
