The Rev. Michael Soesbe, 60, of Irvington, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his home.
He was born on July 22, 1949 in Foley to Bob and Eva Soesbe.
He loved the Lord by pastoring churches in Mississippi and Alabama for over 20 years. He was serving as pastor of First Baptist Church of St. Elmo. He graduated from Foley High School in 1967, University of South Alabama, and New Orleans Theological Seminary. Reverand Soesbe served four years with the U.S. Air Force and received 2 air medals for hazardous flight duties over Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Soesbe.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jane McKibbon Soesbe of Irvington; son, Michael (Tracie) Soesbe of Stapleton; daughter, Wendy (A.J.) Joellenbeck of Foley; two granddaughters, Amber Nelson and Ashley Joellenbeck; his mother Eva Soesbe of Foley; sister, Di Ann (Henry) Stuckey of Foley.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30 at Foley First Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1 at the church wioth the Rev. Dr. Bill Jackson and the Rev. Alton Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
