DAPHNE—Merideth Mackin’s RBI sacrifice fly and Caroline Slaughter’s RBI cracked the eggs on the scoreboard to put Daphne up 2-0 over visiting Spanish Fort after four run-less innings at Lady Trojan Field Monday.

DHS starter Kimberly Small and closer Baylee Lucassen kept the Toros off the board for the win.

Small tossed a four-hitter through five innings with three strikeouts and two walks. Lucassen got the save without yielding a hit and struck out two.

Mackin, Small and Ahlynn Kimbro each had hits and Aspyn Godwin a triple for DHS.

Spanish Fort junior lefty Leah White scattered four hits, posted three strike outs and walked just two in the loss. White also had a hit along with Natalie Crocker, Mallory Druhan and Laura Weatherford who had a double for the Toros. SFHS had a runner reach third with one out in the second inning, but a 1-3-2 double play prevented the early Toro lead.

Daphne improved to 17-6-1.
