Sondra Scott Morris, age 75, died peacefully at her Baldwin County, Ala. home on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Sondra was born April 25, 1940 in Martinsville, W.V., the daughter of Clifford and Bernadetta May Potts Scott.
Sondra grew up in Grove City, Pa., graduating from Grove City High School in 1958. Known for her beautiful smile and active involvement in majorettes, gymnastics and dancing, this former Miss Grove City went on to study education at Grove City College.
As a member of Alpha Beta Tau sorority, she met the love of her life, Epsilon Pi Fraternity brother Robert A. Morris. The two were married at Grove City College Chapel Nov. 4, 1960.
As Robert enjoyed a career in metallurgical engineering, Sondra, a business woman at heart, excelled at real estate. She later went on to become a professional loan officer for several large mortgage lending agencies. She was a member of American Business Woman’s Association for more than 20 years.
Always eager to explore new opportunities, Sondra and Bob traveled extensively and lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Alabama, Louisiana, Illinois, even spending three years working in Mexico before retiring to “Sweet Home Alabama in 2001.”
A devoted mother of three, Sondra was happiest when doting on her husband and children at home. She leaves a rich, lasting legacy of commitment to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Clifford Scott Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert A. Morris; her daughters, Kimberly (Bob) McCuiston of Foley, Ala. and Kristen (Bob) Bowen of New Egypt, N.J.; her son, Robert S. (Kristin) Morris of Canton, Ga.; along with five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A private memorial will be held in the spring.
The family wishes to thank all who prayed and cared for Sondra during her illness.
