Donald Gene Southard, 78, of Foley, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at in Pensacola, Fla.
He was a member of American Legion Post 99. He Served in the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Southard and Nellie Richardson Southard, a sister, Marjorie Samson, and daughter, Debbie Dillard.
Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Powers Southard; four daughters, Cindy (Tom) Schneider of Foley, Gerry (Gary) Johnson of Magnolia Springs, Pam (Mike) Sharp-Callahan of Gulf Shores and Cheri (Terry) Cloyd of Omaha, Neb.; two sons, Stephen (Suely) Turner of Foley and Donnie Southard of Omaha; two brothers, Lester Southard of Blue Mound, Ill., and Robert Southard of Taylorville, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 24 at Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Burkhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
