MOBILE, Ala. — The Southeastern Juried Exhibition will open at the Mobile Museum of Art on Friday, July 18. The museum continues in its efforts to promote work of contemporary artists with the exhibition.

Artists from 12 Southeastern states have been invited to submit pieces to this all media juried exhibition, held biennially. This exhibition will be the venue for work by many of the Southeast’s most prominent artists.

The juror for this exhibition, Ron Platt, the Hugh Kaul Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Birmingham Museum of Art, selected 63 artists for this exhibition.

Sculpture figures prominently in this biennial, although strong works in painting, photography and printmaking also abound.

The Southeastern Juried Exhibition will be the venue for work by many of the Southeast’s most prominent artists.

Purchase prizes from previous juried exhibitions enable the museum to expand its collection of work from the contemporary art scene, as well as enabling patrons to view works by professional artists throughout the Southeastern states.

The Southeastern Juried Exhibition will remain at the Mobile Museum of Art through Sept. 14.

The museum hosts special exhibitions from world-famous museums and collectors throughout the year. It is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
