SPANISH FORT, Alabama — Spanish Fort’s Lady Toros return three starters to the Hill this season with longtime assistant coach Angi Puckett moving up to take the helm of the girls program at 5A Spanish Fort.

Puckett’s veterans include five seniors in Marissa Babbs, Jennifer Byrd, Katie Godfrey, Brianna Owens and Marissa Payne and five juniors: Lauren Davis, Emily Doherty, Madison Robson, Katie Stacey and Elaine Wood.

Babbs, Godfrey, Owens and Wood will bring the most experience back for Puckett who assisted George Brown and most recently Justin Moore last year. Owens returns with an 8 point-per-game scoring average, Godfrey with 7 ppg and Wood with 5 which helped the Lady Toros to go 19-12 in 2009-10.

They were edged out of the SW regionals at sub-state by Faith's Lady Rams.

5A Area 2 with Gulf Shores, LeFlore, Vigor and SFHS will be as tough as ever as will Area 1 with Faith and St. Paul’s making the SouthWest Region one of the toughest playoff tournaments to make in the state.

SFHS will play in the Baker Invitational in Mobile this weekend and will host Fairhope Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
