SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Planning Commissioner Tom Montgomery has resigned his post citing new work obligations that interfere with his availability.
Mayor Joe Bonner said Montgomery resigned in writing, and he has appointed Fonda Gantt to assume the empty seat. The term expires Feb. 28, 2015.
Meanwhile, Chairman Carl Nelson has been re-appointed to a six-year term on the commission and a three-year term on the city’s Board of Adjustment. Commissioner Bernard Davis has also been reappointed to both bodies for the same duration, and Board of Adjustment member Jimmy Ashcraft has been re-appointed by Bonner for another three-year term.
Bonner also announced during Monday’s regular City Council meeting that Board of Adjustment member Dana Ferrill has resigned her post, and he has appointed supernumerary Bobby Fortenberry to her seat. The term expires on Oct. 6.
Bonner said he has not yet made a decision regarding Fortenberry’s replacement.
