SPANISH FORT, Alabama— On Wednesday, the city gave public notice that City Council work sessions would be held at 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, Dec. 27, and at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.
The notice also stated that those meetings would “be followed by Special Meetings if necessary.”
The purpose of the meetings was to convene executive sessions to go into “mediation” over the “town center,” City Clerk Mary Lynn Williams said this morning.
The council would reconvene in open meetings at the close of the executive sessions to take any formal action, she said.
The early morning meeting today was cancelled last night and, and at 1:52 p.m. today, the 4 p.m. meeting today was also cancelled.
When notice was sent this afternoon that today’s afternoon meeting had been cancelled, an additional notice was given for a work session to take place at 8 a.m. Monday.
“The Work Session for this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. has been canceled,” Williams stated by email this afternoon. “There will be a Work Session followed by a Special Meeting if needed, Monday, December 31st at 8:00 a.m. The work session scheduled for Monday at 4:00 is still scheduled at this time.”
Both Monday meetings are scheduled to take place at City Hall in Spanish Fort.
