SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Students in Jacque Helms’ homeroom know a thing or two about plastic eggs.

In fact, they collected 52 bags of the confection containers as part of Spanish Fort Middle School’s drive to support the Lighthouse in Robertsdale, and each student in the class will be rewarded an ice cream party of their own the week following spring break.

“Together we collected over 6,000 eggs, and we were able to stuff 4,518 of the eggs with candy,” said SFMS Principal Craig Ross.

Proceeds from the drive will benefit the Lighthouse’s ninth annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at Garrett Park. The Lighthouse is a United Way agency committing to providing support, preventing violence and promoting justice for victims of domestic violence.
