SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Sherie Mabrey is more than your typical board member. She makes magic happen.
Mabrey, who lives in Spanish Fort, joined the Magic Moments Mobile Regional Board in September but also serves as a Magic Maker for the oldest wish-granting organization in the state of Alabama.
“It allows her the opportunity to grant wishes to children living in the six-county Mobile region,” said Magic Moments spokeswoman Bebe Goodrich.
Most recently, Mabrey joined fellow board member Chuck Moorehead on the short trip to Prichard, where the pair gave Weylon Rogers a laptop. Rogers, 13, was born with a ventricular septal defect and suffers from several associated medical complications. The congenital condition results from the presence of one or more holes in the wall that separates the right and left ventricles of the heart.
The Magic Moments Mobile Regional Board serves more than 200 children living in Baldwin, Clarke, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington counties. The organization grants non-medical wishes for children ages 4 to 18 suffering from life-threatening or life-altering medical conditions.
