The Spanish Fort-Faith Academy winner will play at 7 Monday for the BayBears Classic championship. The Toros have outscored opponents 27-2 in three pool play games.
“We have had good approaches as the plate in this tournament,” Spanish Fort head coach Brent Boyd said. “The guys have been going in there with the mindset that they are going to get their pitch to hit, then not missing it.”
Will Luft (1-0) struck out three and gave up two hits in three innings to get the win for the Toros.
“He threw great,” Boyd said. “I’m proud of Will for the way he works his tail off at practice. When he does that the results are there. He is starting to see that his good preparation turns into good things on the mound. I’m proud of him for that.”
The Toros took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBIs from Eubanks and Ethan Walker. They added a run in the third on Luft’s RBI single.
Spanish Fort sent 15 hitters to the plate in the fifth. Jesse McCord led off with a double and later scored on an RBI single from Eubanks.
