SPANISH FORT, Alabama—Johannah Scott made a diving save in goal for Spanish Fort in triple overtime to give the Lady Toros a big 2-1 region win over St. Paul’s on the Hill Friday night.

Scott had seven saves on the night, two coming in the third OT shootout phase.

SPS keeper Gracie Lester made a key save late in regulation off a set play from the 18-line.

Lindsay Landry put the visiting Lady Saints up a goal in the first half which was equalized soon after by SF captain Rebekah Diring off a lovely crossing assist from Steely Holmes.

Neither team managed a goal in the second half nor the subsequent OT periods. But the first line of PK shooters for the Lady Toros got four past Landry while Scott made two saves in the shootout. Andi Goodwin and Jaycee Wharton scored PK goals for the Saints.

The Lady Toros made all four penalty kicks in the shootout phase.

Summer Stout, Madison Diring, Calley Sholder and Rebekah Diring scored for SFHS. A fifth attempt was not necessary after St. Paul's second miss. The official match score is recorded as 2-1. The Lady Toros improved to 9-1 overall, 1-0 in the area.

Spanish Fort began the match with three subs, but by halftime had none due to injury.

The Lady Toros host Gulf Shores March 15 at 5 p.m. The Lady Saints fell to 4-3, 0-1. SPS will travel to McGill-Toolen Catholic March 19.

In boys action, an early goal by Clisby Clark gave the Toros all they would need as Spanish Fort defeated the visiting Saints of St. Paul's 1-0. Toro keeper Spencer Pollet posted five saves while Joey Ferguson led the Saints with 10 saves against an aggressive SF charge. The Toros improved to 6-3-2, 2-0. The Saints (8-3-1) will host Prattville Friday.
