SPANISH FORT – The Lady Toros are getting ready for volleyball at Spanish Fort High. But as usual head coach Barclay Kercher and her squad face stiff competition in one of the toughest 5A areas and regions in the state.

With defending 5A state champion Faith Academy and former 5A champ St. Paul's next door in Area 1, SFHS will battle it out with Area 2 and county rival Gulf Shores just down the road.

"The 2010 season has gotten off to a great start," Kercher said. "We have worked hard in the pre-season hitting the weight room hard and getting a lot of playing time in with our summer play dates. We have a small group this year with only nine- the 'Fine Nine'. Their attitudes and work ethic have been great and I am looking forward to having a successful season."
