Henry Spencer Jr., 88, a native of Monroe County, former resident of Detroit and a resident of Century, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Jay Hospital after an illness.
He was a retired oiler with Ford Motor Company and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he was a member of the Wesley Chapel CME Church in Century.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Arthetta Spencer of Century; two daughters, Patricia Gatson and Marie Spencer, both of Detroit; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Wesley Chapel CME Church in Century with the Rev. Kent Cottrell and Betty Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Wayman’s Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County.
