FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Get into the Christmas spirit and remember the “Reason for the Season” by visiting “A Night in Bethlehem” presented by First Baptist Church of Fairhope on Sunday, December 19, 5-7 p.m.
Transformed into the town of Bethlehem during the time of Jesus’ birth, this event, held in the Fellowship Hall, will take the place of the evening service and give visitors a chance to experience the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the Holy Land.
According to the church website, this hands-on experience will take you on a journey through the town as children lead you from the census taker to the various city shops such as the Spice, Carpenter’s, Weaver’s, Stonemason’s, The Inn, the Manger, Bakery and Stable. Also travel with the shepherds (children) to see angels in the fields and see real Roman guards as they take the census.
About 8o to 85 volunteers and cast members come together to make this night happen, said Kevin Nelson, FBC Fairhope Children’s Minister.
“This even is completely children-led. Adults are only there to assist if they need to. But the kids are the main characters,” said Nelson.
