SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Things got a little funky Friday night at The Eastern Shore Centre. For the next six Fridays look for the free concert series at the courtyard from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
BUST kicked off the summer concert series last Friday with Rebecca Barry on lead vocals and saxophone, Karl Langley on vocals and drums, Gerry Gambino on guitar and Sylvestor Parsons on bass and vocals.
Kids were splishin’ and a splashin’ to the band’s beat while playing in the fountain. BUST played classics such as “Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman, “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, “You Ain’t Nothing but a Hounddog” by Elvis, “My Girl” by The Temptations and “Rollercoaster” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band also played original songs such as “Imagination” and “Livin’ the Life,” as well as many other classic favorites.
“I was just here with my kids as I am every weekend,” Tonja Allen, of Daphne, said. “How convienent for them to play live music on Fridays. This is so cool.”
BUST played music will a feel good, funk and soul style, which was a ton of fun for those in attendance. The crowd sat around the fountain and watched the band play into the sunset.
“We just wanted to get out and do something one night that wasn’t just the same thing,” Sandy Williams of Montrose and her daughter Kendall, 10, said when asked what brought them to the show.
In need of some great live music this summer? Catch Bust when they return to Traders in Spanish Fort July 27, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19.
Next Friday night don’t miss Wes Loper at the Eastern Shore Centre for some beachy, Jimmy Buffet-style music.
