SPANISH FORT, Ala. — The Spanish Fort varsity basketball teams visited the Lions' Den of Foley last Thursday with mixed results.

The Lady Toros came away with a 20-point margin of victory 51-31, the second time the 5A SFHS ladies have defeated the 6A Lady Lions so far this season.

The Toros, however, met a Lion pride reinforced with six varsity players just back to court after being absent due to the football playoffs. The Toros made the Lions work hard for their points, however, but fell back toward the end of the third period as Foley pulled away for a 70-58 home-den win.

The Toros were led in scoring by Alex Grant and John Redman who each scored 11 points, Max Bubalo added 10, John Hollingsworth eight while Stephen Bertagnolli and Stephen Schillinger had five each. Foley's Julio Jones was the high scorer at 16.

The Lady Toros were led by Leah Davis with a game-high 13. Teammates Whitney Cazalas, Haley Forrester and Felicia Smith added seven each. Lauren McGaster led Foley with nine. The Lady Toros travel to Citronelle Friday to play Citronelle High's Lady Wildcats at 6:30 p.m.
