The Fairhope Public Library Foundation is proud to announce and host the Library”s 3rd Annual “Hoot Scoot”! Mark your calendars for April 29, at 6:30 p.m.

Fairhope”s only night, prediction run will not only feature the original 5K route through the streets of downtown Fairhope, but also a one-mile fun run, “Fledglings In Flight”. We will be hosting all of the festivities on the Library Lawn this year and are thrilled to have live music by The Leavin” Brothers perform at our post-race celebration. T-Shirts, pizza and beverages will be provided to pre-registered race participants and available to others for purchase while supplies last! Bring your family and friends for what is always certain to be a “Hooting” good time!

Adult advanced registration is $18, children 12 and under $12. Adult Day of Race registration is $20, children 12 and under $15.

Western Gate chapter of the Florida Trail Association is sponsoring a hike in partnership with the statewide Florida Forever Coalition initiative, “Take A Hike, Florida!” on Saturday. This celebration is in recognition of Florida”s natural treasures and the outdoor recreation opportunities provided by 20 years of state land conservation. The 14th annual University of Mobile Classic golf tournament will be April 29 at TimberCreek Golf Club in Daphne. Deadline to register for the tournament is April 16. Cost is $150 per player or $500 per team. All proceeds benefit scholarships provided by the University of Mobile annual fund.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. A post-tournament dinner and golf polos will be provided to all players, and many prizes will be awarded. Opportunities for sponsorships are still available, beginning at $150.

The 2011 Conference USA Women’s Golf Tournament will be April 16-19 at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores. Come watch these young athletes as they compete for the Conference USA Championship. The championship shall be three days, with 18 holes scheduled for play each day. Playing partners for the first day will be determined by a blind draw. For every succeeding round, team scores will determine parings. The 2011 Gulf Coast Classic III Softball Tournament will be April 18-20 at the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sportsplex. Come watch high school softball action as teams form the southeast compete on the field. Visit www.gs-hs.com for information.

The Barefoot Run, Talk and Book Signing at The Hangout will be April 26 at 5:30 p.m. at The Hangout in Gulf Shores. The Fairhope Tennis Association is presenting the first Fairhope Open Doubles Tennis Tournament April 30 and May 1. All tennis players are welcome to compete. FTA membership is not required but is greatly appreciated. Both men and women divisions will consist of double teams Class A(4.0 >) and class B(3.5 <) with a maximum of 8 teams and minimum of 4 teams in each division. All brackets will be the double elimination format. First and second place trophies will be presented in all divisions. Also, gifts, food, drinks, and handouts will be available to all players and tournament volunteers. All matches will be played at the Fairhope Municipal Tennis Courts, Morphy and Young streets. Sponsors include The Heart Group, Eastern Shore Adult Medicine, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Family Practice Associates Fairhope Public Library, Walmart etc. Entry fee is $20 per team, payable in advance to the Fairhope Tennis Association treasurer. The Baldwin Humane Society is planning "Dog Gone Scramble II"……a benefit golf tournament, on Friday June 3rd beginning with 11:00am check-in at Craft Farms Golf Resort. Approximately 50 teams will compete in this tournament which will take place Monday, April 11, Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13 at the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Sportsplex.
