ELBERTA — In the Pre School Program Pre-K3 has been learning about Humpty Dumpty and other fun Nursery Rhymes. Our class went on Egg Hunt and then we walked around the school looking for Humpty Dumpty. We had Open House on Thursday night and it was wonderful to see all the parents who stopped by the classroom. In the Pre-K4 classroom has been having a lot of fun getting set up in their new Classroom Cottage. The class read the “School Bus” by Donald Crews and the class got in a pretend school bus during center time. The class talked about where the students would like to ride in a real school bus and most of the students would like to ride to Wal-Mart on a bus.
The Kindergarten class read the Jan Brett book, “The Gingerbread Baby.” Then they had to go in search of their gingerbread baby. They searched the school and met the staff. They didn’t find that baby but he did leave them a gingerbread cookie in the classroom.
The 5th grade has been studying cells in Science. We enjoyed using the microscopes to look at and draw a variety of different cells. Next week we will be applying this study of cells to the human body, its systems, and organs. We are also studying ancient native cultures in Social Studies. Later this week we will be creating murals to represent the major cultures that we have studied. We are excited to have received new math books and have dived right in with a study of place value.
