Many young performers across Baldwin County are thrilled to start the new 2007-2008 season of classes and performances by the Starlight School of the Arts. Along with the city of Orange Beach, Starlight welcomes its new partner, Dancing Feet and Co.
Both businesses are owned and operated by Mandy Batts and Lacy Ignacio. This dynamic mother-daughter pair have performed and taught dance, musical theater and voice all across the country.
Last year’s graduating seniors were offered more than $30,000 in performance scholarships from several different colleges.
Past students include several performers on Broadway, in national commercials and in regional theaters across the nation, as well as the current Miss USA.
Both of these talented ladies are excited to be sharing their love of the arts with the children of Baldwin County.
Classes are held in the Orange Beach Recreation Center. Dance classes in lyrical, contemporary, jazz and hip hop, are offered for students ages 5-college.
Other classes include private dance and voice lessons, traveling performance team (past performances include Disney World, New York City and Mexico with Carnival Cruise Lines).
Musical theatre classes are also offered. This fall students will perform Broadway’s “Seussical Jr.,” based on the characters of the Dr. Seuss books.
