State cross country meet is Saturday in Moulton

DAPHNE, Alabama — The Alabama State High School Athletic Association will hold the 2012 state cross-country championships Saturday at Oakville Indian Mounds Park near Moulton.

A number of Baldwin teams qualified for the meet last week including girls squads from Bayside Academy, Spanish Fort and Foley. Boys teams advancing include Fairhope, Daphne and Spanish Fort. Mobile schools making the cut include McGill-Toolen, St. Paul’s, UMS-Wright and Baker

Local girls teams qualifying include 3A Bayside’s team of Mary Catherine Branyon, Carlisle Calametti, Catie Caldwell, Iris Harrison, DeLaney Klutes, Molly Pinnix, Kerri Raley, Emi Rudat, Bowen Spottswood and Abigail Warner.

In 6A Foley’s team of Chelsea Gholson, Felicia Guthrie, Katy Hines, Tessa Johnston, Lelia Miranda and Rachel Pigott and

Robertsdale’s team which includes McKenzie Boutwell, Gabrielle Chunn, Morgan Corvo, Paige Desmond, Sarah Forland, Sydney Schaus, Rachel Starling and Kara Wells.

Spanish Fort’s 5A team includes Brittany Boudreaux, Sarah Carrico, Madison Copeland, Hannah Frain, Katrina Garofano, Linsey Hrabovsky, Jordan Huber, Julia Johnson.

Individuals girls qualifying from Baldwin county include Mica Herrin and Payton Redmon from Baldwin County High; from Daphne, Akers, Kaleigh Edwards, Megan Peterson, Jordan; Fairhope’s Hannah Evans; Boys teams qualifying include in 6A Fairhope’s Tyler Banser, Caleb Casolaro, Zack Davis, Josh Doege, Jack Ellis, Chaz Ganey, Thomas Grace, Anthony Heyer, Tyler Pharez and Bradley Thomas of Fairhope and Daphne’s Cameron Brooks, Jake Cady, Alex Guillory, Zach Murphy, Chris Walding and John Alan Walker. And in 5A Spanish Fort’s Connor Irion, Kevin Jones, Jack Morgan, Keaton Morris, Ross Nelson, Tyler Orem, Matthew Pierda, Seth Quimby, Cooper Sewell and Dima Shotlander.

Individuals boys from Baldwin county include Cody Parker of Baldwin County High; Ash Midyett, Weston Robles and Ryan Shankle of Bayside; Henry Bailey, Josh Nelson and Cap Peavy of Foley and Travis Eubanks and Levi Jimenez of Robertsdale.

Start times Saturday are 8:30 a.m. for the 5A girls, 8:50 a.m. for the 6A girls, 9:10 a.m. for the 5A boys, 9:50 a.m. for the 6A boys, 10:30 a.m. for the 3A girls and 11:10 a.m. for the 3A boys.
