FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel is once again sponsoring and promoting Saturday Walking Tours in June in select cities throughout Alabama.

The city of Fairhope, for the third year, has been invited to host free guided tours in the downtown area for visitors and the local community on the four Saturdays in June.

All tours will begin at 10 a.m., and will last approximately 45 minutes.

Those attending can meet at the Fairhope Welcome Center in downtown at 9:30 a.m. and walk to the starting site of the tour, or go directly to the starting point at 10 a.m.

On June 6, Jennifer Meriam, hospitality director at the Eastern Shore Art Center, will guide a Public Art Tour.

The Public Art Tour will start at ArtCenter.

On June 13, Donnie Barrett, Fairhope Museum of History director, will guide a tour of downtown historic buildings including the history of the Single Tax Colony.

The historic buildings and Single Tax tour will begin at the Welcome Center.

On June 20, Barrett will guide a tour of the Colony Cemetery.

The Colony Cemetery tour will begin at the cemetery, which is located at the corner of Oak Avenue and North Section Street.

On June 27, Barrett will guide a tour of the Fairhope Museum of History, which will feature the newest exhibit on Frank Stewart the Picture Man.
