BAY MINETTE, Ala. – Baldwin Area Rural Transportation System (BRATS) drivers brought home top awards from the annual State Roadeo competition in Orange Beach.

The State Roadeo consisted of participants from transportation systems throughout the state competing in two categories, van and bus. The van category consists of vehicles that can carry 14 or less passengers and the bus category are vehicles which can carry 15 or more passengers.

The winners of the State Roadeo competition completed a number of challenges including a written test, wheelchair securement procedures testing, pre-trip testing and an extensive driving obstacle course.

BRATS employees receiving State Roadeo awards are:

• First Place, van category, Ron Stewart.

• Second Place, van category, Herman Harville.

• First Place, bus category, Jeff Wolfe.

Second Place, bus category, Steve Huggins.

The drivers who represented BRATS at the State Roadeo competition were the winners of the local Baldwin County Roadeo. These employees received the highest scores on competitions that tested their knowledge, safety and ability to perform exceptionally behind the wheel of their public transportation vehicle.

The first place State Roadeo winners will represent the state of Alabama as they advance to the National Roadeo Competition in Indianapolis, Ind.,

on June 4-5.
