SOMETHING UNUSUAL ABOUT YOURSELF: I was the mascot my senior year in high school, Leo the Lion. I could “bust a move” at basketball game half-time shows.
“Once a lion, always a lion.” This saying rings true for Stephanie Cody. She has taught at Foley High School for six years, and she attended Foley schools Kindergarten through 12th grade.
“I’ve always been a lion,” Stephanie says. “I won the ‘Most School Spirited’ award.”
Stephanie attended Auburn University and majored in communications, but soon realized her calling to become an educator. She was a substitute to make extra money and knew she belonged in a classroom.
“I thought ‘Wow, I really want to be here,’” Stephanie says.
Stephanie teaches ninth and 10th grade regular and at-risk English classes. What she loves most about teaching is simple.
“I love coming to a job I love doing everyday,” she says. “When you see children understand something, that they finally get it, it’s rewarding.”
When Cody isn’t in the classroom, she spends time with her husband Blake and her 2-year-old Anna Claire. They like to travel and enjoy Auburn football and basketball.
