Steven Gordon "Steve" Tapia

Steven Gordon Tapia, 51, a native of Mobile and resident of Summerdale died Monday, July 11, 2011.

He was born Aug. 29, 1959 to Homer G. and Edith Tapia. He graduated from University Military School in 1977 and then attended Auburn University and the University of South Alabama.

In 1983, he established a management career in the Baldwin County food service industry. He spent his weekends and summers playing on the white sands of Orange Beach and watching the colorful sunsets on Cotton Bayou while raising his three daughters with his wife, Dana.

He had a passion for swimming, sailing, being with his family and his close friends. He took interest in each and every person he came in contact with, never meeting a stranger. He was a loving father, husband, son and brother. He will be missed dearly by his family.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Zywicki Tapia; three daughters, Kayci Elizabeth, Kristian McCoy and Kloe Markham Tapia; two sisters, Joni Tapia (Buddy) Chico and Susanne Tapia (Ken) Heck; nieces, Amy Todd Boswell, Whitney Chico Christopher and Catherine Chico;  nephews, Andrew Chico, Forrest Todd and Hunter Todd;  grand nephews, Brody Boswell and Colby Boswell; and grand niece, Landyn Todd.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer G. Tapia, and mother, Edith Markham Sprinkle Tapia.
