Mildred Strahley, 99, a longtime resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., and a resident of Daphne, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007.

She was a faithful member of St. Andrews Methodist Church in Chattanooga for over 50 years. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her gifts of charity, her love and support for her family, and her strong faith in Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rosa Rountree, and her husband, Robert F. Strahley.

Survivors include three children, Dr. Robert (Debbie) Strahley of Daphne, Dr. David Strahley of Glasgow, Ky., and Kristine (John) Bridges of Wildwood, Ga.; brother, James R. Rountree of Union, S.C.; two sisters, Sarah Dawkins and Marguerite Rountree of Buffalo, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mary (Robert) Rountree of Spartanburg, S.C.; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Her poems reflected her spirit and were a blessing to many.

A Celebration of Life services was held Saturday, Dec. 15 at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Cremation arrangements were made by Hughes Cremation & Funeral Services, Daphne.
