Stuart Contracting wins Benefit Clay Shoot

BAY MINETTE — The team from Stuart Contracting in Bay Minette was the big winner at the inaugural Benefit Clay Shoot sponsored by the United Way of Baldwin County. The high scoring team included Bill Mitchell, Ben Harris, Michael Dorough and Joe Landenwich.

The event was staged at Bushy Creek Clays in Perdido and Windcreek Casino and Hotel served as the title sponsor of the event.

Adams Stewart Architects came in second and Baldwin Mutual Insurance in third. Team members for Adams Stewart included David Adams, Todd Stewart, John Byrd and Ryan Long. Baldwin Mutual team members were Carl Jones, Matt Fetner, Lindsay chumacher and John Schumacher.

All three teams received trophies. United Way also recognized the overall top shooter Kerry O’Connor and the top female shooter Lindsay Schumacher.

Marina Simpson, Executive Director, said the inaugural event was a big success and credits the sponsors and participants.

“We are very pleased with the success of our first year clay shoot fundraiser. It was a great day and we look forward to making it bigger and better next year,” she said. “Bushy Creek Clays was an excellent venue with wonderful service. We would like to thank our many sponsors, especially Windcreek, our tournament sponsor.”

Additional sponsors included Pepsi Cola Bottling in Atmore, North Baldwin Utilities, Adams Stewart Architects, LLC, Edward Jones- Carla Stewart, Delta Outfitters, Joseph Brown and Associates, South Shore Insurance Agency, Baldwin EMC, Sweat Tire, James M West Jr, MD, Ascend Performance Materials, Baldwin Mutual Insurance, Frances Holk Jones State Farm, Alabama Land Title and Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

The four-person teams represented Windcreek Hotel and Casino, North Baldwin Utilities, Adams Stewart Architects, LLC, Delta Outfitters, Ascend Performance Materials, Baldwin Mutual Insurance, The Elliott Companies, Consolidated Pipe, Bancorp South, Stuart Contracting, United Bank and Baldwin Gulf Coast Pest Control.

Simpson also praised the committee members who “put tireless hours into ensuring it was a great event.” Serving on the planning committee included John Byrd, Tina Covington, Tonya Lambert, Carla Stewart, Todd Stewart, Harry Still and Ben White.
