Summer Moody medical update

Posted

BAY MINETTE, Alabama - Fairhope attorney Rob Stankoski's office issued the following assessment of Summer Moody’s condition around noon on April 19.

On the evening of April 18, her condition worsened.  A change was noticed in Summer’s pupils due to an unexpected increase in the swelling of the brain. A two-hour emergency surgery was performed that night, which resulted in the removal of the top of her skull to relieve the pressure on the brain stem. The intracranial pressure (ICP) is extremely elevated and the physicians are monitoring whether or not the surgery successfully reduced the swelling.

Although Summer is having some respirations, they are not sustained and she has been placed back on a ventilator.

A very strong blood pressure medication has been administered to assist in controlling the blood pressure, but this medication can only be received for a limited amount of time before it may cause harm to her system.

She is not stable enough for any testing to reveal brain activity at this time.

Most victims in a similar state would be given a 99 percent fatality rate.
