GULF SHORES - On July 7, the Foley Gators Swim Team visited Gulf Shores to take on the Gulf Shores Dolphins Summer League team.  “It is always a battle when Gulf Shores and Foley meet up in recreation league sports,” said coach Brook Monroe. This time the Gulf Shores Dolphins came out victorious by a score of 284 to 92.

Monroe said, “Foley is one of our traditional big rivals. We have several children on our team who live and go to school in Foley. So it is a big deal to race against their friends.”

Gulf Shores won each of the relay events to distance themselves from Foley early in the meet. The following Gulf Shores’ swimmers took first place in all three of their races during the evening: Danielle Albert, Lauren Bozeman, Savannah Kichler, Margaret Lloyd, Ben Malone, Nate McGee, Jazzmen McCray, Taylor Shannon and Daniel Stapleton.

Of the 41 Gulf Shores swimmers in the meet, 30 scored points for the home team.

Monroe added, “Everyone swam well this evening. Best times were achieved in 31 percent of the races we entered. Our new summer swimmers are rounding into form at the right time of the season. City Meet, the league championship, is around the corner and we have got to be ready for our divisional rivals, Jackson and Belforest.”

The Gulf Coast Area Aquatics League championship meet, known as City Meet will be contested at the Fairhope Swimming Pool on July 17 and 18.
