SUMMERDALE — Summerdale Police thwarted the burglary of an elderly woman last week.

According to Summerdale Police Chief Eddie Ingram, the woman, whose name was not made available, made an E-911 call around 10:43 p.m. Thursday from her County Road 71 home in Summerdale to report a burglary in progress.

“Several officers were dispatched and responded to the scene,” he said.

Among them was Officer Terry Fent, who saw a blue Dodge pick-up truck with a white man and woman in the driveway with the engine running.

“Both subjects were quickly taken into custody,” Ingram said.

Summerdale Police identified the pair as 51-year-old Joseph Clark Carver of Foley and 38-year-old Christina Marie Shelby of Bon Secour. After they were transported to Foley Jail, Carver was charged with burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief. Shelby was charged with criminal trespass.

No additional information was available at press time.
