On Saturday afternoon the people of Summerdale lined the streets of downtown eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Christmas parade, and of course, the big man dressed in red.
The Summerdale Christmas parade included floats from the Summerdale public library, holiday greetings from the cafeteria ladies at Summerdale School, beauty queens, dancers, baton twirlers, churches, live nativity scenes, horses and Santa, who ditched his sleigh for a ride on an old Summerdale fire truck
Summerdale Mayor David Wilson was pleased with how well the parade turned out.
“I was extremely worried that it was not going to be a success, but I believe it was a great success. There was just an abundance of goodies thrown out this year. It was very good. The old fire truck looked really good with Santa on it. That was very impressive,” said Wilson.
Wilson also thanked the fire department, the police department and everyone who helped the parade go off without a hitch on Saturday.
