Summerdale council makes upgrades to police department

SUMMERDALE, Ala. - The Summerdale Town Council approved a number of motions hiring officers to the police department and upgrading the department's camera equipment.

The council voted to end the probation periods for Carmen Matthews and Tracy Whiteside. The council also approved a motion hiring Robert Watson as an auxiliary officer.

The council approved a motion installing two cameras, Liveeye, in the police department building.

"We've got a couple of blind spots," Summerdale Police Chief Frankie "Eddie" Ingram said.
