Summerdale Library begins Summer Reading Program

SUMMERDALE, Ala. - The Marjorie Younce Snook public Library in Summerdale has received a grant for $1,500 from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to help fund the library's Summer Reading Program.

"(The library) has an exciting and educational program planned this summer that promises to be fun and entertaining for the whole family," Cindy Suggs, library director, stated in a press release.

The theme ofr the program is "One World, Many Stories," and kids can attend each Tuesday in June from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Tomorrow's program will feature the state of Alaska. There will be a puppet production for children and then a storytime with Alaskan crafts and refreshments.

On June 21 the program will feature the country of China. It will begin with storytime and China crafts and refreshments. Then the group will have a dance party in "The Zinghoppers Show."

On June 28 the program will feature the country of Africa. It will begin with storytime and African crafts and refreshments. The program will end that day at the Summerdale Splash Park with prizes for the top 5 readers and goody bags for each participant.
