Summerdale looks to attract more businesses

SUMMERDALE, Ala. — The town of Summerdale is open for business.

Summerdale Mayor David Wilson unveiled that slogan during Tuesday’s Council workshop.

“That’s the slogan I want us to be about,” he told the Council.

The phrase was emblazoned on a table and series of panels, all of which will be used in a booth the town will use at trade shows in an effort to attract businesses to the town.

“The total investment was about $600,” he said, adding that Summerdale Town Clerk Tiffany Lynn designed the structure.

Wilson explained his motivation behind the project.

“Businesses, for some reason, are not locating in this town,” he said. “I feel like the developing is happening to our south and to our north.”

So Wilson hopes to increase efforts to attract new businesses to Summerdale.

“There are new market-tax incentives,” he said.

Upon further discussion, the Council agreed to further research creating incentive packages and moving forward with promoting the town to businesses.
