SUMMERDALE, Ala. - The Summerdale Police Department is investigating an alleged attempted sexual assault incident that occurred Thursday in the town.

The location of the incident was at a residence off Alabama 59, and it involves a male suspect allegedly pretending to be with the Social Security Administration and coming to the female victim's house and touching her inappropriately.

"A guy called this woman who has a disability claim with Social Security that hasn't been granted to her yet," Summerdale police officer T.J. Palkovic said, noting the suspect told the victim they needed to discuss the claim and showed up to her house. "He told her he needed to check her posture and touched her chest and attempted to put his hand up her shirt. At this time a small dog reacted to the situation and the guy got spooked."

Palkovic said when the victim claimed she was going to call Social Security about the incident, the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a male in his mid-40s with a mustache, around 6 feet 2 inches tall and between 250 to 300 pounds. The exact weight and height is unknown. The suspect fled the scene in a blue-colored Jeep Cherokee, Palkovic said.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
