BAY MINETTE - The Faulkner State Sun Chiefs finished the regular basketball season with six straight conference wins to earn a second place seeding in the upcoming state Alabama Community College Conference tournament.

Coach Jack Robertson's Sun Chiefs drew a first round bye and will play the winner of a first round game between Lawson and Chattahoochee Valley. FSCC will play that survivor Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the tourney, which is being held at Hanceville's Wallace State. Faulkner has not lost since losing at home to L.B. Wallace on the evening of February 10. They were 14-10 after that game and 5-3 in conference play.

Six conference wins in a row have upped the league mark to 11-3, just a game behind league winner L.B. Wallace. The streak also helped Robertson reach 20 wins for yet another season. The loss on February 10 was the game after Robertson earned career win 800.

They rebounded from the LBW defeat with a road win in Brewton over Jeff Davis (87-76) and then knocked off old rival Alabama Southern 93-67.

Next up was a big victory over Wallace-Selma 96-89. Bay Minette's Xavier Dortch led the Chiefs in that game with 25 points including four three pointers.

Deshun Tucker added 24, Chris Joyner 16, A.J. Roulhac had 15 and Rafael Adams had 12 points and a big 16 rebounds. Logan Adams scored four and Peter Myers one. Garrison West led Selma with 22.

Later they improved to 18-10 with a 77-73 road win over a tough Chattahoochee Valley team. Rafael Adams led the scoring with 19 while Logan Adams had 18 points. Dortch joined them in double figures with 14. Daijun Macklin led CVCC with a game high 20.

Last Thursday, Faulkner continued a strong week with a big 62-59 triumph over rival Bishop of Mobile. Dortch hit four three pointers and led Faulkner with 17 points.

Joyner added 13 while Tucker had 12. Rafael Adams had nine with ten rebounds. Tucker also had ten rebounds while Joyner pulled down 12 boards. Remonda Harris led Bishop with a game high 21.

Faulkner then topped off a great closing stretch of both the week and the season with a Saturday night home win over Jeff Davis by the score of 89-84.
